Cabo San Lucas is the heart of Los Cabos, with breath-taking beaches, an energetic nightlife, and a broad range of vacation activities. Situated on the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, the city is said to mark the end of the world. Here the Mexican desert spills into the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. Once a small fishing village, where greats such as Ernest Hemingway would come to fish, Cabo San Lucas now attracts over a quarter of a million visitors a year. It is particularly known for its world-class sport-fishing and golfing. Cabo San Lucas is the activity centre of Los Cabos. The area boasts some of the best sport-fishing in the world, with an abundance of marlin, sailfish, tuna, and dorado. The rich and diverse marine population also makes for excellent snorkelling and diving. Jacques Cousteau praised the diving here. Los Cabos is also the golfing capital of Mexico, with six championship courses designed by well known legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones II, and Tom Fazio. These signature courses, with their spectacular mountain and ocean setting, are arguably the most beautiful in the world.

The main centre, located around the marina, is a bustling kaleidoscope of sights and sounds, with modern conveniences. Duty-free shopping is a strong lure for visitors. Vacationers peruse the wares of street vendors, explore quaint artisan-run, and browse fashionable boutiques housing international labels. As evening falls, the exotic aromas of the restaurants tempt diners with local and international cuisine. The fresh seafood is particularly renowned. At night the streets explode into life with a colourful atmosphere of riotous fun, as revellers of mixed ages enjoy the hopping bar and club scenes. The main draw to Cabo, however, is the unsurpassed beauty of its beaches, where endless white sands melt into the warm tropical waters. With average temperatures of about 80ºF in winter and 90ºF in summer, the sun shines almost all the year round, making Cabo San Lucas a rare paradise.
